Your Doom
04:24
|
|||
Take a look inside your head
Tell me, what you see there,
does it fill you with dread?
The world outside looks quite the same
That feeling we have given so many names
Your doom
is a thread upon the loom
Your fate
is what's laid (placed) upon your plate
Your path
is a perceptual math
Your road
is the weight of the load
Who can tell you what is real?
Who can tell you, then,
what it is you should feel?
Each one says they know the way
Each one says they know
which game you should play
They say your path is their own
and if you stray then you can never come home
but no one else can set you free
close you eyes again and then you will see
Your doom
is a thread upon the loom
Your fate
is what's laid (placed) upon your plate
Your path
is a perceptual math
Your road
is the weight of the load

Perceiver
05:24
|
|||
Before my birth where was I?
We know some "whats" but never why
When so much is illegible
is perception credible?
Choices made and chances lost
Decisions made without weighing the cost
Results can seem unbearable
when truth is inaccessible
The shape it takes when morning wakes
Each time you witness as another dawn breaks
Must we forget it all?
Is it indelible?
Some rejoice another grieves
Sunlight dances through falling leaves
It's all ephemeral
It's so incredible
The arc of time, the hand of red,
The path of history through the darkness and dread
Much is lamentable
Is it preventable?
The precipice, the river's edge,
A selfish heart, a broken pledge
So much is indigestible
Is "the real" contestable?
Is the road etched in the stone?
A destiny of blood and bone
The way seems imperceptible
But perception is selectable
Endless dreams wait in the dark
Seeds of light wait for a spark
Magic irrepressible
Eternal love expressible
We perceive what we believe...

No Why
02:20
|
|||
We will not move from where we stand
We won't be taken by the wrist
So much of this is so out of hand
And many things unintended persist
Look me in the eye and tell me you know why
Grace and the strength to cut through lies
Are gifts so rare and rarer still,
Possessed by those who strive
To take the day and win the hill
Look me in the eye and tell me you know why
Whisper in my ear, try to make it clear
Each an isle upon the sea
Set apart but still,
Edge to edge beneath the waves
Our union is fulfilled
Look me in the eye and tell me you know why
Whisper in my ear, try to make it clear

Is, Is Not
05:27
|
|||
I made a map of the places in my mind
It made it easier to find the things that I had left behind
It's desert vistas and green hills led me here
To the base of the mountain of my fears
It's the right time, it's the right time, it's the right,
it's never the right time, never the right time
I could climb right up it's jagged face
Or I could just lay here at it's base
It's cracks and crevices whisper from all sides
Cold and merciless truths from which I was trying to hide
It's the right time, it's the right time, it's the right,
it's never the right time, never the right time

After Life
05:17
|
|||
I don't regret one day of my life,
except for maybe a moment or two,
but the one day that haunts my nights
is the day that I will be torn from you
There's not much here to count on
and most things do not last
and the clock hangs there in that same old place
while my days like the dust dance around its face
There's but one way to beat it,
one way to keep me sane,
outside the cycles of life and death
I found us a home on the astral plane
I built us a world inside my brain
far from the darkness and the pain
Right at the edge of the forest
stands a ring of shimmering trees
once you step inside you will see
it is much, much bigger than it seems
And the wide, shallow creek that runs through it
leads down to the meadow below
and the wild flowers there will adorn our hair
as we lay in the sun and forget all our cares
Every cat we have ever loved
has a place there with us too
we can all stay there just as long as we like
before we return to the cosmic stew
I built us a world inside my brain
far from the darkness and the pain
I know nothing lasts forever
even outside of time
when we feel we are ready
we can choose to be born or rejoin the sublime
But right now I am thankful
for this life and our love and our home
I check on the cats while they sleep
adjust your blanket to cover your feet
It will be there when we need it
that world inside my head
and, to be fair, if you've made us a better one
I'm perfectly happy to go there instead
Just so long as you're all there,
you and everyone we've ever loved,
and we can spend our time beyond time
and walk through the garden surrounded by love
Build us a world inside your brain
far from the darkness and the pain

Invocation
05:04
|
|||
There is a field
so full of life
There is a silent place
There is a hand so tight with rage
it bends the bough
to break
There is a light...
There is a path
between the trees
There is a golden thread
There is a stream so choked with blood
that from the mountains bled
There is a light...
There is a cave of blackest glass
There is an ancient rhyme
There a map upon the stars
that measures out the time
There is a light...

What May Come
06:28
|
|||
Crimson field of fallen trees
Littered sky and empty seas
Hollow room like a cave
At water's edge they call the wave
And tonight is as good as any other night
Set aside all your little fears
Pull the pin and it falls apart
Exploded, like a diagram
Find the one that makes it start
Pinch the devil, now in hand
Held up to the eye, the flaw
Reveals a net of silver thread
Showing how the Void's cold maw
to Source's light, eternal wed
And tonight is as good as any other night
Set aside all your little fears
Once set in motion
It cannot be undone
Stand with me inside this ring
and wait for what may come
Yesterday's a twisted path
Dry your tears with bridge's ash
Sea and stone
Sky and stream
Sing the song that heavens dream
And tonight is as good as any other night
Set aside all your little fears
Once set in motion
It cannot be undone
Stand with me inside this ring
and wait for what may come

Taken by Twilight
05:31
|
|||
I recite your eulogy
In my mind, every day
I know it sounds morbid
but I guess that's just my way
For all that is given
can, so easily, pass away
Nothing, forever, can stay
Once I was the white dove
all nestled in the vine
Then I was the black crow
perched high up in the pine
Now I am the rooster
just sitting on the fence
Calling after the days
and wondering where they went
Where have they gone?
All the days...
When my time is over
I do not intend to die
I shall become the falcon
and rise to meet the sky
Adorned in turquoise
Pray to Isis
Pray to Bast
Taken by twilight
I shall reach my home at last
Home at last...
Nothing but a stranger in this world...
